Job Description

You’ll work with a varied portfolio of clients, develop your technical skills and work towards a recognised Level 3 Assistant Accountant qualification. Working hours Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday Working arrangement: Hybrid, with at least three days per week in the office Key responsibilities As an Assistant Accountant Apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience in areas including bookkeeping, accounts preparation, tax and financial reporting. Your duties will include: Preparing bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients. Assisting with year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. Supporting the preparation of VAT returns and management accounts. Completing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records. Helping prepare personal and corporation tax calculations. Contacting clients to obtain information, answer questions and resolve queries. Using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, alongside other digital systems. Supporting senior members of the team with accounting tasks and client projects. Ensuring financial information is accurate, organised and handled confidentially. Training and development You’ll work towards a Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship , developing your knowledge and practical skills while working alongside experienced professionals. Your training will cover: Bookkeeping principles and double-entry accounting. Preparing financial records and supporting accounts production. Reconciling financial information and investigating discrepancies. Understanding accounting standards and financial reporting. Supporting tax and VAT processes. Using accounting software and digital tools securely. Communicating professionally with clients and colleagues. Handling financial queries and maintaining effective working relationships. Study support and time off for training will be available to help you progress towards your qualification. You should have: AAT Level 3 or equivalent relevant accounting knowledge. Good attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Good communication skills and a professional approach to clients. Confidence using computers and learning new software. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
