What does this team do? Within Indirect Tax Consulting we have two areas of specialism: Indirect Tax Advisory Indirect Taxes are taxes charged on everyday transactional activities, and our team advises on how businesses should manage these. The most well-known Indirect Tax is VAT, but we also cover other transactional taxes including Insurance Premium Tax and Air Passenger Duty, amongst others. Our Indirect Tax Advisory team help our clients manage their VAT and Indirect Tax positions – whether it is advising on multi-million-pound transactions, VAT on everyday retail products, or how we can help clients adopt tech to report VAT correctly on their income and expenditure. As well as being at the forefront of tax technology, Indirect Taxes involve an understanding of case law, so skillsets and experiences in our team are wide-ranging. Global Trade Advisory (GTA) Global Trade tax regulation and requirements, particularly in the post-Brexit and trade-focused political environment, are at the forefront of our clients’ agendas, and significantly impact their supply chains. The Global Trade Advisory (GTA team works with some of the largest, most recognisable brands and corporations across the world, undertaking a mix of advisory, compliance and dispute support to clients within customs, excise and trade. What skills and academic qualifications do I need? You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum of 104 UCAS points (if gained after 2017 – or 260 if before) from your top 3 A-Levels. Indirect Taxes impact our clients throughout their supply chains and require us to have a detailed understanding of how their businesses work. Within the Indirect Tax Advisory and Global Trade business, your industry expertise will develop alongside your tax technical knowledge, enabling you to provide advice to clients that assists them to undertake their business. You will gain an understanding of client products, supply chains and processes/systems to enable you to advise them effectively. You will also work alongside Indirect Tax specialists in Technology areas, together with colleagues in other tax areas and across the wider Deloitte services. At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events.
