Job Description Modern Apprenticeship – Early Years Education & Childcare Officer   Modern Apprenticeships offer paid employment combined with relevant on the job learning, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.   As part of Inverclyde Council’s ‘Inverclyde Works’ recruitment and training drive, we are inviting applications for our Modern Apprenticeship (MA) Programme for Inverclyde residents aged 16 – 24 years, who have a keen interest in working with young children in local nurseries.  (The age range increases to up to 29 years for Inverclyde residents who have a disability and/or are care experienced*).   Successful applicants will be employed on a fixed term 18-month contract, working 37 hours per week, and will work towards attainment of an SCQF Level 7 Social Services Children and Young People (SVQ Level 3) qualification.  The successful candidate will be expected to comply with all health and safety and child protection procedures and will be required to meet the deadlines set for qualification portfolio completion.  Apprentices will be paid the Real Living Wage with a current annual salary of £25,877.   Applicants must have SCQF Level 4 Maths (or equivalent) and two SCQF Level 5 qualifications (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, one of which must be English, or have completed a relevant Foundation Apprenticeship. There will also be a requirement to complete a written exercise prior to interview stage.    Throughout the apprenticeship, you must be willing to commit to meeting agreed timescales and targets in relation to attaining the SCQF Level 7 qualification within 18 months.   Successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate: Confidence in written and verbal communication. Ability to work well within a team. Ability to use computers. Ability to plan and organise workload efficiently and effectively. Ability to demonstrate personal accountability.
