What you will do

• Engage directly with children, young people, and their families in their homes and communities, working to promote positive outcomes as outlined in Children Assessment Framework Plans, Children in Need and Child Protection Plans, and Looked After Child care plans.
• Ensure a collaborative approach by contributing to ongoing assessments, care planning, and reviews with an emphasis on a child-centred focus to empower families.
• Facilitate and promote contact with birth family members for children and young people, providing supervision and assessment as needed in accordance with the Care Plan, and provide transport support.
• Identify and assess levels of risk and support needs, delivering protective and/or supportive services to at-risk children. You will also be responsible for the proper reporting of risk through the management structure.
• Carry out home visits and welfare checks, ensuring children's safety within the community, and report Safeguarding issues as per Legislation and Policies.
• Respond in emergencies or crises with immediate tasks that keep children safe and offer necessary supports such as providing immediate needs like shopping and fuel.
• Work alongside social workers during Child Protection Enquiries, including Section 47 enquiries, ensuring the immediate protection of children.
• Advise and refer or signpost families to services such as financial support, accommodation, and welfare rights.
• Be involved with and contribute to work directed by family courts, assisting children and young people to move and settle into new homes.
• Support the involvement of children and young people in decisions affecting their lives and help them make informed decisions.
• Work cooperatively, embracing inclusive practices that respect identity and diversity.
• Record high-quality information on the council's children’s database and provide support to qualified social workers, including practical and administrative tasks.
• Engage in continuous personal and professional development by attending Performance and Development Reviews, supervision sessions, and staff meetings.
