Your new company You will be joining a large, successful and well-established construction business with a strong presence across the UK. The organisation operates through a number of divisions and has an excellent reputation for delivering major projects for its customers. As the business continues to develop, they are looking to appoint an experienced Divisional Financial Controller to provide financial leadership and commercial support to a significant part of the organisation. Your new role Reporting into senior finance leadership and working closely with the Divisional Managing Director and operational teams, you will take responsibility for the financial performance, reporting and control of the division will lead the divisional finance function, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely management information, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting. Alongside this, you will provide commercial insight to the leadership team, using financial information to challenge performance, identify risks and opportunities and support better business decisions. You will have oversight of areas including project and contract performance, revenue and margin analysis, cash and working capital, forecasting, financial controls and balance sheet management. A key element of the role will be developing strong relationships with operational and commercial colleagues, providing constructive challenge and ensuring that finance is genuinely adding value to the division. What you'll need to succeed You will be a qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA or CIMA, with experience gained within a complex, commercially focused organisation experience within construction, contracting, infrastructure, engineering or another project-based environment would be particularly advantageous, alongside a strong understanding of contract accounting, project profitability, forecasting and working capital. You will need to demonstrate strong commercial judgement and the ability to influence senior operational stakeholders. Importantly, you will be comfortable getting beneath the numbers, challenging assumptions and translating financial information into clear commercial insight. Previous experience of leading and developing a finance team will also be important.
