Job Description
Job summary
HUC provides Urgent and Unscheduled Care services to over 4.5 million patients across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, West Essex and the South West of England. HUC is an exciting and supportive place to work. No two shifts are the same and we have a wealth of knowledge across the organisation, ensuring we get the most appropriate outcome for every caller.
As an NHS 111 Clinical Advisor, you will provide safe, timely and compassionate clinical assessment, triage and advice to people contacting NHS 111 and HUC's Clinical Assessment Service. Using your professional knowledge, effective telephone consultation skills, NHS Pathways and approved local pathways, you will assess urgent and undifferentiated presentations, identify clinical risk and determine the most appropriate care.
You will recognise deterioration, time-critical illness and safeguarding concerns, provide self-care advice and safety-netting, and arrange referrals or escalation to emergency, urgent, primary, community or specialist services.
Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team and established clinical governance framework, you will also provide clinical guidance to Health Advisors and colleagues. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to patient safety and experience across a dynamic 24/7 service, while developing your clinical assessment, decision-making and remote consultation skills.

Provide clear, evidence-based advice, safety-netting and agreed care plans, checking patient understanding.
-
Arrange safe referrals and handovers to appropriate services, including ambulance, emergency, primary care, urgent care, mental health, pharmacy and community services.
-
Support Health Advisors and the wider multidisciplinary team with clinical advice, case reviews and clinical floor support where trained and allocated.
