Job Description

The Spey Catchment Initiative (SCI) is recruiting an Engagement Officer to deliver a new programme of engagement with farmers, landowners and land managers across the Spey catchment. This work will shape two major programmes now being developed for the catchment: the Nature Conservancy’s Catchment Investment Programme and the Atlantic Salmon Trust’s Catchment Audit. You'll be making sure land managers are understood, kept informed, and genuinely listened to, giving them a real seat at the table. You will build a clear picture of who the catchment’s land managers are, keep them updated through focus groups, events and digital content, gather insight on appetite for nature-based solutions and sensitivities, and build trust through honest one-to-one conversations. You will feed insight into SCI’s project pipeline, spot pilot sites and local champions, and help shape TNC and AST’s project design. You will also create SCI’s social media content day-to-day, with full support provided. Salary: £22,000 pro rata (£36,500 FTE), plus pension and travel allowance. Hours: part-time, 3 days a week. Contract: 12 months initially from January 2027. Location: Hybrid, based at home and/or our Grantown-on-Spey office, with extensive catchment travel.
