Quantity Surveyor Inverness / Highlands Major Construction Project Tier 1 Contractor Your new company Hays is delighted to be working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a major construction project in the Highlands.With a strong portfolio of large-scale public sector and infrastructure projects currently underway, alongside an excellent pipeline of future work across the North of Scotland, this is an exciting time to join their established commercial team. This opportunity would particularly suit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who feels ready to step up, take greater ownership of their own packages and progress towards becoming a fully autonomous Project QS. Your new role Working alongside an experienced commercial and project team, you will take responsibility for your own packages on a significant live construction project.You'll move beyond the traditional Assistant QS remit, gaining greater exposure to procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, cost reporting and commercial decision-making. Your responsibilities will include: Managing costs and income across allocated work packages Procurement of subcontractors, including enquiries, comparisons and recommendations Managing subcontractor accounts through to final account Preparing valuations, cost reports and cost reconciliations Measurement and interpretation of drawings and specifications Identifying and managing variations Supporting commercial forecasting and project reporting Working closely with site, design and supply chain teams Developing your contractual and commercial knowledge You'll have the support of an experienced commercial team while being encouraged to take increasing ownership and responsibility as your experience develops.
