Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it. Location: On site at our Crisis at Christmas Women’s hotel in East London (exact location to be provided on successful appointment) Contract type: Locum Salary: £20 per hour and £30 per hour on Bank Holidays – 25, 28 Dec and 1 Jan Start date: Shifts between 21st Dec and 12th Jan. Must be available for an induction day w/c 14th Dec, which will include a site visit. Hours: Shifts are 8.5 hours, inclusive of an unpaid 30-minute break and staff will work either a day, evening or night shift pattern. Day shift: 07:00 – 15:30, Evening shift: 15:00 – 23:30, Night shift: 11:00 – 07:30 Applications close at 9am on Friday 13 November. About the role The Crisis at Christmas Women-led Pathway is a unique, women-led accommodation service, specifically designed for women experiencing homelessness. Open from 21st December 2026 to 12th January 2027, the Women-led Pathway aims to provide a psychologically informed environment where guests can access support, services and dedicated casework, enabling them to work towards positive outcomes and move-on options. The Women’s Pathway Coordinator will be the on-site lead for the project, providing operational oversight and ensuring the service runs consistently, safely and effectively across all shifts. You will act as a central point of coordination across all delivery stakeholders, helping to ensure information is shared, issues and incidents are appropriately managed, and actions are followed through. This will include working closely with Crisis staff, volunteers, caseworkers, hotel staff, security and other service providers. You will oversee the application of relevant Crisis at Christmas policies and procedures and ensure serious concerns are appropriately escalated to Crisis at Christmas staff team, who will provide advice and guidance as required. During Day shifts and Evening shifts, the Women’s Pathway Coordinator will work alongside a Volunteer Team Leader whose role it is to brief and manage volunteers and coordinate the welfare and wellbeing of our guests. Whilst they lead on these areas, you will act as a point of escalation when complex situations arise, using your professional experience and knowledge to provide context and guidance, support decision making, and handle issues beyond the remit of the volunteer role. During the much quieter Night shift, where there is no Volunteer Team Leader on duty, the Women’s Pathway Coordinator will take responsibility for the volunteers on site and oversee guest welfare. To be considered for the role you must be able to be on site at the hotel in London during the Christmas period. This will include working on Bank Holidays and weekends. About you Experience working intensively with women experiencing homelessness, including those with multiple and complex needs, ideally within a hostel, accommodation or related support environment. A good understanding of the issues faced by women experiencing homelessness and the barriers they may experience when accessing services. Experience of safeguarding and incident management Experience of managing or coordinating complex situations involving multiple stakeholders. Ability and confidence to use initiative, assess risk within the boundaries of the role and make appropriate decisions in complex situations. Experience of holding high-quality briefings and debriefs with different audiences. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with people from a range of professional and personal backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm, clear and confident during challenging situations. Ability to recognise professional boundaries and understand when a situation needs to be escalated. DBS Requirements: The role involves working with vulnerable adults and so current registration on the DBS Update Service is required. Please note you will have to show a DBS certificate linked to your Update Service, the certificate must be an Enhanced Disclosure (including Children Barred List) or show a valid Enhanced DBS certificate for the child workforce that was issued in the last 12 months. You will also accrue annual leave during this work, which will be calculated according to statutory guidelines and will be paid in your final pay slip. Holiday entitlement will be calculated as 12.07% of actual hours worked and equates to approximately £3.80 per hour for bank holidays worked and £2.40 per hour
