Role : Cleaner Location : Leigh on Mendip School / Part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership Start Date: 9th November 2026 Closing Date: Friday 16th October. Shortlisting will take place on this day. Interview Date : Tuesday 3rd November Hours : 15 hours per week, 5 days per week. To be worked at any time from 3.30pm.  5 days extra days for inset days and a further 5 days during the holidays. Leigh on Mendip School is looking for a dedicated cleaner to join our supportive team. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the school premises, ensuring our pupils, staff and visitors have a hygienic and pleasant environment to learn and work in every day. Key Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: Carry out scheduled cleaning duties across designated areas (vacuuming, mopping, dusting and polishing furniture and fittings). Safely handle cleaning chemicals and materials in line with procedures. Empty waste bins and safely transport waste to designated compounds. Replenish essential hygiene consumables (soap, toilet paper, hand towels). Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the line manager. Record keeping of supplies. Informing office when additional supplies are required. What We’re Looking For: Essential : Basic literacy and numeracy skills. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a busy, friendly team. Physical capability to undertake active work (bending, lifting, stretching and operating machinery). A reliable, adaptable and approachable attitude. Willingness to undertake relevant training and use basic electronic devices for communication. Commitment to safeguarding child welfare and adhering to Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities policies. Desirable: Previous experience in a professional cleaning or school setting.
