Teaching Assistant & Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) Permanent Contract Hours: 18.67 hours per week Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday, 8.50am to 1.30pm plus additional Friday lunchtime hour available to discuss at interview Term time only (38 working weeks / 44.6 paid weeks) Salary: TA - BWMAT C, SCP 5-6, £26,427 - £26,847 FTE per annum, pro rata Actual salary from £8962.21 - £9104.64 per annum MDSA - BWMAT A, SCP 3, £25, 164 FTE per annum Actual salary from £2361.51 per annum Total annual salary: £11,323 - £11,466 per year At Horsington Church School, we pride ourselves on being a caring and inclusive school where children are at the heart of everything we do. The children, staff and governors of Horsington Church School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring individual to join our dedicated team as a Teaching Assistant and Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA). This varied role offers the opportunity to support pupils both within the classroom and during lunchtime, helping to create a positive, nurturing and engaging environment where every child can thrive. Teaching Assistant We are looking for someone who is: A positive, enthusiastic and reflective Teaching Assistant with high expectations of both the pupils they support and themselves. Able to work collaboratively with all members of the school team and wider community. Knowledgeable about how to identify and meet individual learning needs within the classroom. Flexible, nurturing and committed to supporting children's academic, social and emotional development. The role will include: Supporting high-quality teaching and learning within the classroom, helping all pupils to access the curriculum and make progress. Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning, develop confidence and address identified learning needs. Potentially delivering targeted interventions and support programmes under the guidance of the class teacher. Encouraging pupils' independence, engagement and resilience in their learning. Helping to prepare and organise classroom resources and learning environments. Building positive relationships with pupils to promote wellbeing, self-esteem and a love of learning. Working collaboratively with teachers and other staff to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all children. Following safeguarding, health and safety procedures to ensure children remain safe, happy and ready to learn. Undertaking first aid responsibilities and maintaining relevant training. Midday Supervisory Assistant The successful candidate will also work as part of our lunchtime team, providing care and support to children during lunch and playtimes. The role will include: Setting up for lunchtime and ensuring they remain clean and tidy. Monitoring children's eating habits and encouraging healthy eating. Managing behaviour positively and consistently in line with school expectations. Supporting active and creative play opportunities. Supervising and mediating disagreements and encouraging positive relationships. Maintaining safe practices and procedures to ensure all children are safe and happy.
