Your new company Hays Education are currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join a welcoming SEN school in Chester on a temporary basis until Christmas. This is a full-time role working across the school site, helping to ensure the premises remain safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will be practical, hands-on and capable of managing a varied workload in a busy school environment. Your new role Opening and securing areas of the school site as required Carrying out general maintenance and basic repairs Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are safe, clean and presentable Setting up rooms and facilities for meetings, events and school activities Conducting routine health and safety checks Monitoring contractors and deliveries on site Responding promptly to maintenance issues and site-related requests Supporting the wider school team with day-to-day site duties What you'll need to succeed Previous caretaker, site supervisor, facilities or maintenance experience Experience working within a school environment is desirable Good understanding of health and safety procedures Ability to work independently and use initiative Practical DIY and maintenance skills Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one What you'll get in return Opportunity to work within a supportive SEN school setting Full-time hours with an immediate start Competitive weekly pay Ongoing support from your dedicated Hays Education consultant Potential for the assignment to be extended If you are an experienced caretaker looking for your next opportunity and can start immediately, we'd love to hear from you.
