Your new company Hays are recruiting on behalf of a well-established public sector organisation that plays a key role in supporting economic growth, business development and community prosperity across the local region. Due to continued investment in rural enterprise programmes, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Assistant to support the delivery of a grant funding scheme aimed at helping local businesses grow and develop. This is a fixed-term opportunity until January 2027, with the potential for extension, offering valuable experience within a highly regarded economic development team. Your New Role As Project Assistant, you will provide administrative and project support for the delivery of a rural business grant programme and associated economic development initiatives. Key responsibilities will include: Supporting the administration and day-to-day delivery of grant-funded projects and programmes. Organising meetings, workshops, business engagement events and stakeholder activities. Assisting with project monitoring, compliance checks and verification processes. Maintaining accurate project records, databases and management information systems. Collating financial and performance data for reporting purposes. Supporting the preparation of funding claims and project documentation. Conducting research into economic trends, policy developments and best practice. Producing reports and information for internal management and external funding bodies. Working closely with internal departments, external partners and businesses to ensure successful programme delivery. Supporting communications and promotional activity to maximise engagement and achievement of project objectives. This role offers a varied workload and would suit an organised individual with strong project administration, stakeholder engagement and reporting skills. What you'll need to succee d A third-level qualification and at least one year's relevant experience supporting grant-funded projects, programmes or initiatives OR A minimum of three years' relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications. You should also be able to demonstrate experience in: Supporting the administration and delivery of funded projects or programmes. Building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders and partners. Assisting with financial administration, project monitoring and reporting. Research, data collection and analysis. Managing competing priorities and maintaining accurate records. Using IT systems and databases to support project delivery. A full UK driving licence.
