Job Description

Job Title: Fire Designer (Data Centre Experience Required) Location: Remote Length: 6 Month Rolling Contract Rate: £350–£425 per day (DOE) Are you an experienced Fire Designer with data centre experience looking for your next contract opportunity? As a Fire Designer, you will be responsible for designing fire protection and detection systems — including fire alarms, suppression, and smoke control — for large-scale, mission-critical data centre environments, ensuring all designs meet stringent safety and compliance requirements. You will be joining an established company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire and security solutions to its customers. Responsibilities: * Design and develop fire protection and detection systems tailored for data centre environments, covering fire alarms, suppression, and smoke control. * Produce and review fire system drawings, schematics, and detailed design documentation using AutoCAD and Revit. * Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and frameworks, including BS 5839, BS 6266, NFPA 75/76, and EN requirements. * Coordinate with MEP, electrical, and architectural teams to integrate fire system designs into overall project plans. * Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and system performance evaluations throughout the project lifecycle. * Support installation and commissioning teams with technical guidance and design clarifications as required. Experience and Certifications required: * Demonstrable experience as a Fire Designer or Fire Protection Engineer, with proven data centre project experience essential. * Strong knowledge of fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems, including gaseous and water mist technologies. * Proficiency in design tools including AutoCAD and Revit. * Solid understanding of relevant codes and compliance frameworks, including BS 5839, BS 6266, and NFPA 75/76. * Full UK driving licence required for occasional on-site visits. * FIA or IFE membership (desirable).
