DT/Art Technician (Level 2) Birchgrove Comprehensive School, Swansea Salary: Grade 4 SCP 05-06 (£26,427 - £26,847 pro rata) Actual Starting Salary: £18,473 per annum Hours: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time) Contract: Temporary for one year in the first instance Start Date: As soon as possible Closing Date: 16 October 2026, 12 noon Birchgrove Comprehensive School is seeking to appoint a highly organised, enthusiastic and practical DT/Art Technician to support our successful Design Technology and Art Departments. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who enjoys working in a busy educational environment and is committed to supporting high-quality teaching and learning. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing materials, resources and specialist equipment for lessons and examinations, maintaining workshops and classrooms, supporting practical activities, and ensuring that health and safety standards are met at all times. The role also includes supporting Art activities, including preparing displays, assisting with clay work and kiln operation, and supporting printmaking activities. Key Responsibilities Prepare materials, resources and equipment for Design Technology and Art lessons. Support teachers and pupils during practical activities. Maintain and service tools, machinery, equipment and specialist resources. Monitor stock levels and process orders. Carry out health and safety checks and maintain associated records. Support GCSE moderation displays and exhibitions. Assist with the maintenance and organisation of workshops, classrooms and storage areas. Undertake PAT testing record keeping and inventory management. Contribute to the wider life of the school and departmental activities. We Are Looking For Someone Who Has Essential Ability to work independently and use initiative. Excellent numeracy and literacy skills. A good standard of general education (NVQ Level 2 or relevant qualification). Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures. Ability to relate well to both young people and adults. Ability to work constructively and flexibly as part of a team. Desirable Knowledge, experience and practical skills in Design Technology and/or Art. Why Work With Us?
