Driver Hire Edinburgh City are currently recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) and Class 2 (Category C) Drivers to work with a variety of well-established clients across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. Whether you’re looking to pick up extra shifts, work around existing commitments or build up regular ad-hoc work, we have a range of assignments available to suit your availability. From trunking and general haulage to multi-drop deliveries and palletised distribution, the work can vary depending on the client and assignment. 📦 The Work Depending on your licence and the assignment, duties may include: Trunking and depot-to-depot work General haulage Multi-drop deliveries and collections Palletised distribution Deliveries to commercial, industrial and customer sites Loading and unloading goods where required Working independently or alongside a Driver’s Mate Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects Ensuring loads are secure and transported safely Completing delivery paperwork Following road transport legislation and health & safety procedures Providing professional customer service With a variety of clients and assignments available, no two shifts are necessarily the same! 🕒 Shifts & Hours Flexible ad-hoc shifts Days, backs and nights available Monday to Friday work Typical start times between 6:00am and 11:00am for day work, depending on the assignment Typical shift lengths of 8-12 hours Minimum 8 hours’ pay guaranteed per shift Additional work available during busy periods and holiday cover Opportunities for regular ongoing work 💷 Pay Rates 🚛 Class 1 (C+E) PAYE £15.50 per hour £20.66 per hour after 8 hours PAYE Advanced £17.37 per hour £23.15 per hour after 8 hours 🚚 Class 2 (Category C) PAYE £14.50 per hour £19.32 per hour after 8 hours PAYE Advanced £16.25 per hour £21.66 per hour after 8 hours 💰 Minimum 8 hours’ pay guaranteed per shift ✅ What We’re Looking For Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) licence Valid Driver CPC qualification Valid Digital Tachograph Card Previous HGV driving experience Maximum 9 penalty points No DD, DR, CD or IN endorsements Comfortable with manual handling where required Reliable, punctual and professional Safety-conscious attitude Good communication skills Flexible and willing to work different assignments ⚠️ Drug and alcohol testing may be carried out during induction and on a random basis throughout employment. 🌟 Why Work With Driver Hire Edinburgh City?
