Job Description
We are seeking experienced Wiremen to join a major National Grid project in Melksham, supporting the installation, wiring, refurbishment and testing of electrical systems within high-voltage substation environments. Working as part of a specialist electrical team, you will be responsible for carrying out high-quality panel wiring, control wiring and electrical installation works while ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with National Grid standards and project specifications. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a major UK energy infrastructure project with a well-established engineering contractor. Key Responsibilities Carry out panel wiring, control wiring and electrical installation works within National Grid substations. Install, terminate and connect electrical cabling in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. Assist with the installation, refurbishment and commissioning of electrical equipment. Wire and connect a range of National Grid equipment, including: AIS and GIS Switchgear Protection Relay Panels LVAC Boards Battery Systems Transformers Circuit Breakers Disconnectors Earth Switches Current Transformers (CTs) Voltage Transformers (VTs) Telecommunications Equipment Marshalling Kiosks Supplies Pillars Blockhouses Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and layout drawings. Carry out cable routing, glanding and termination to a high standard. Support testing, fault finding and commissioning activities where required. Maintain accurate records of completed work. Ensure all work complies with National Grid standards, Health & Safety legislation and company procedures. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices.
