Midday Supervisor and Teaching Assistant Role: Midday Supervisor and Teaching Assistant Location: Old Cleeve First School Start Date: ASAP Closing Date : 11.10.2026 at noon Interview Date : w/c 12.10.2026 Grade: Grade 1 SCP 3/4 Hours of Work: 8.30am – 3.30pm 18.75 hours per week, 5 days a week Term time and 5 INSET days Abated salary: £11,152.00 - £11,327.00 Purpose of the Role This is a varied role combining Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) duties with Teaching Assistant responsibilities. During the lunchtime period, you will supervise and support pupils in the dining hall and playground, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and enjoyment. You will encourage positive behaviour, support children's social development and help create a happy and inclusive lunchtime environment. In the afternoon, you will work under the direct instruction of teaching and senior staff to support teaching and learning in the classroom. You will help pupils access the curriculum, provide targeted support for groups and individuals, and contribute to a positive learning environment where all children can succeed. As part of our wider inclusion ethos, you will play a key role in providing high-quality support that helps remove barriers to learning, supports emotional, social and academic progress, and ensures every pupil feels safe, valued and included. Key Responsibilities -  Midday Supervision Supervise pupils during lunchtime, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and positive behaviour.  Support children whilst eating their lunch, encouraging independence and promoting good manners and healthy eating habits.  Supervise and engage pupils during outdoor play, encouraging positive play experiences, cooperation and inclusion.  Promote positive relationships and help children resolve minor disagreements using restorative approaches.  Attend to minor first aid needs and report any incidents in line with school procedures.  Ensure school expectations for behaviour and safety are consistently maintained throughout the lunchtime period.
