Soft Lampshade Maker – Hand Sewer Portslade, Brighton Full-time, Short Term Contract leading potentially to permanent role 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm Starting at £13.25 depending on experience Are you a Skilled Hand Sewer with great attention to detail, a can-do attitude and a love of working with fabrics Are you looking to develop your skills in a busy, creative workshop Our client is a friendly lampshade workshop specialising in beautifully handmade bespoke lampshades for the interior design, hospitality and lighting industries. From individual residential pieces to large hotel and commercial projects, everything is made by hand in their Portslade workshop. They are now looking for an enthusiastic Hand Sewer to join their soft shade team. The Role The successful candidate will work within the soft shade team, pinning, tailoring and hand sewing fabric lampshades for bespoke client orders. Previous lampshade-making experience is not essential, as training in their specialist techniques will be provided. Strong hand-sewing skills and confidence working with fabrics are important. Your Skills and Experience: Good hand-sewing skills and experience working with fabrics, textiles or similar materials. Experience in tailoring, embroidery, pattern cutting, costume, soft furnishings or a similar craft would be welcome. Use to working in a production environment. Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work. The ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high standard. A genuine team player who is flexible and happy to muck in wherever needed.
