IT Technician Ref: ED50276137 Contract: Temporary until 31/8/2027 Salary: Grade 5 SCP 11-19 (£29,071- £33,119) Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year To start as soon as possible. Cardiff West Community High School is looking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and proactive IT Technician to join our team. This is an important role within the school, helping to ensure that our ICT infrastructure is reliable, secure and effectively supports teaching, learning and the day-to-day operation of the school. The successful candidate will provide a professional and responsive ICT support service to staff and pupils and will contribute to the ongoing development of our systems and technology. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent problem-solving, organisational and communication skills. You will need to be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with colleagues across the school. The role will include • Installing, maintaining and repairing computer hardware and associated equipment • Supporting and maintaining the school's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, servers and workstations • Maintaining software, user accounts, internet connectivity, firewall protection and network security • Helping to ensure the school's ICT systems are protected from malware, viruses and other security threats • Monitoring and maintaining ICT equipment and ensuring resources are appropriately deployed across the school • Supporting the school's communications and security systems, including CCTV, swipe-card and alarm systems • Providing ICT support for assemblies, examinations, school events and the wider day-to-day running of the school • Maintaining accurate inventories, records and reports • Supporting staff and pupils with ICT and helping to resolve a wide range of hardware, software and network issues • Contributing to the continued improvement and development of the school's ICT provision This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working in a busy environment where technology has a direct impact on the experiences of children and young people. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for the successful candidate. Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
