Full-Time Governor / Academic Tutor Doha, Qatar An international opportunity for an experienced, organised and proactive tutor to support two teenage boys in Grade 12 and Grade 10. The role combines direct teaching, academic oversight and personal mentoring. The successful candidate will keep both students on track, coordinate their academic commitments and encourage greater independence, confidence and accountability. Grade 12 – Academic Support & University Preparation The older student is completing his final school year, preparing for university and competing as an athlete. Responsibilities Monitor grades, assignments, assessments and deadlines, identifying opportunities to improve his GPA. Support English, Environmental Science, Applied Mathematics & Statistics and Middle Eastern Studies. Ensure work is completed to a strong standard and submitted on time. Oversee university research, shortlisting, applications, essays, supporting documents, recommendations and correspondence. Maintain an admissions calendar and coordinate with the school counsellor. Assess his SAT level and create a structured preparation programme with practice, mock tests and review of weaker areas. Track SAT examination dates and registration deadlines. Plan academic work around training, competitions and travel, developing effective time-management skills. The tutor does not need advanced knowledge of every subject but must recognise when specialist support is needed, coordinate it and ensure the student follows through. Grade 10 – Hands-On Tutoring & Academic Recovery The younger student requires closer supervision and substantial academic support. He is conditionally enrolled and must meet the school’s academic requirements by January to remain enrolled. Responsibilities Establish school requirements, current grades, missing work and gaps in understanding. Create an academic recovery plan with measurable weekly targets leading to January. Provide regular tutoring in Biology, Geometry, World History and English, with particular emphasis on Biology, which he is retaking, and Geometry. Supervise homework, test preparation and review of mistakes. Organise school materials and ensure assignments are completed and submitted. Identify whether difficulties stem from subject knowledge, organisation, preparation or study techniques. Develop stronger routines and independent study habits. Mentoring, Organisation & Communication Maintain a clear overview of both students’ grades, outstanding work and upcoming commitments, taking action before problems escalate. Build a positive mentor relationship, establish clear boundaries and encourage discipline, responsibility, confidence and good decision-making. An interest in sport, fitness and nutrition would be valuable, particularly when supporting the older student’s athletic commitments. Regular communication is essential, with liaison alongside parents & school where appropriate. Ideal Candidate Academically strong with experience
