Clerk of Works (Fire & Building Safety) Role: Clerk of Works (Fire & Building Safety) Rate: £350 per day Umbrella Contract Type: Interim Full Time Location: Essex Contract Length: Initial 12 Months Working Arrangements: Minimum 3 days per week on site Closing Date: 2nd October 2026 Clerk of Works (Fire & Building Safety) Overview An ambitious social housing provider is investing heavily in the safety, quality and compliance of its housing stock and is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works with a strong fire and building safety background. Working across a significant programme of occupied residential refurbishment works, you will act as the independent quality assurance representative, ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, statutory requirements, manufacturer specifications and industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical understanding of construction quality, fire safety compliance and residential refurbishment to play a key role in safeguarding residents and ensuring best practice delivery. Clerk of Works (Fire & Building Safety) Key Responsibilities Undertake inspections throughout the construction process at agreed hold points. Inspect passive fire protection, fire stopping, compartmentation and cavity barriers before enclosure. Review fire doors, service penetrations, smoke control systems, AOVs, fire dampers and means of escape provisions. Witness opening-up inspections to verify concealed works where required. Produce detailed weekly inspection reports and maintain comprehensive inspection records. Issue defect schedules and non-conformance reports and monitor contractor close-out actions. Maintain photographic records and evidence of inspections and defects. Provide monthly quality assurance reports highlighting trends, findings and contracto
