About The Role Reporting to the Credit Control Team Leader, you will take ownership of a defined portfolio of customer accounts, including aged and legacy debt across acquired and historic portfolios. This role requires strong investigative and problem-solving skills to manage complex, high-value, and long-outstanding balances. You will be responsible for driving cash collection performance, reducing overdue debt, resolving disputes efficiently, and protecting the business from credit risk within a fast-paced environment. What you'll be doing: Driving Cash Collection & Reducing Aged Debt Take full ownership of your account portfolio to maximise cash collection and reduce overdue balances. Deliver proactive, structured collection activity in line with agreed KPIs and chase cycles. Develop tailored recovery strategies for aged, legacy, and high-risk accounts (60/90/365+ days). Negotiate repayment plans and settlements to achieve optimal recovery outcomes. Account Management & Investigation Investigate historic aged debt and reconcile discrepancies to ensure ledger accuracy. Manage complex and disputed accounts, resolving issues efficiently to unblock payment. Prioritise accounts based on risk, collectability, and commercial impact. Maintain accurate and detailed account notes and system records (including SAGE where applicable). Clearing of the customer ledgers where possible. Reporting & Escalation Prepare monthly reporting on debtor levels, aged balances, and performance against targets. Issue Final Demand Notices where appropriate. Prepare detailed case files and summaries to support legal escalation. Engage senior stakeholders on high-value or sensitive disputes. Recommend write-offs or provisions where recovery is unlikely, supported by clear rationale. Risk & Performance Protect the business from credit risk through effective debt management and early intervention. Achieve individual collection targets and contribute to wider team objectives. Minimise escalations through proactive query resolution and strong stakeholder engagement. About You All you need is: 2–3 years’ experience in a credit control or credit risk role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage customers and colleagues clearly and professionally. Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ability to perform under pressure, managing competing priorities with calm efficiency. Strong reconciliation skills. Exceptional attention to detail, with high numerical accuracy and reconciliation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Office applications, and SAGE software.
