Job Description

Kings Langley Parish Council is seeking a practical, enthusiastic and community-minded person to join the Council as its Parish Warden.

This is a varied, hands-on role helping to maintain and improve the appearance of Kings Langley and supporting the Council’s work throughout the village. The successful applicant will undertake a broad range of outdoor and practical duties, working independently for much of the time while reporting to the Parish Clerk.

Typical duties will include maintaining the Village Garden, flower beds and other areas managed by the Parish Council; litter picking and leaf clearance; carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance; assisting with the upkeep of Council assets; and identifying and reporting issues around the village. The Parish Warden will also provide practical support for community events including the Carnival, Christmas Lights Festival and other Parish Council activities.

Applicants should be comfortable undertaking physical and outdoor work throughout the year and able to organise their workload effectively. A practical approach, good communication skills and a willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks are important. A full driving licence is required.

The post is permanent and full-time, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Core working hours are 9.00am to 3.30pm, with the remaining hours worked flexibly by agreement with the Clerk. Some evening and weekend working will occasionally be required to support key Council and community events.

The salary is NJC SCP 7–12, currently £27,274–£29,542 per annum, depending on experience. The post is pensionable and appropriate training will be provided. Kings Langley Parish Council will also provide the necessary tools and equipment, PPE and branded workwear required for the role.

The role is based at Charter Court, Vicarage Lane, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, WD4 9HR, with duties undertaken throughout the parish.
