Vacancy Summary Job Title: Assistant Estimator Job Type: Permanent Job Ref: Location: nr Stevenage, Hertfordshire Start Date: ASAP Salary: 35k- 45k basic plus competitive package inc car allowance, pension. Company & Project: An established, privately owned and profitable main contractor operating in the Mixed-use, Leisure, MOJ and Education sectors is currently expanding its estimating team. The successful business is currently looking for a talented Assistant Estimator to join its pre-contract team in Hertfordshire. Our client has secured a number of key projects in 2026. They are now looking to add a new Assistant Estimator to their team to focus on their busy tender pipeline. The business has a long-standing pre-contract team with an experienced Team Leader who would be an excellent mentor for the successful individual. This opportunity would suit an estimator with 1-2 years of experience working for either a main contractor or a subcontractor, looking to expand their experience and develop their career further. Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will take responsibility for assisting with managing the cost plans and pricing of tenders under JCT D&B forms of contract. You will assist with producing BoQs, take-offs, full cost plans, and target cost reporting, with occasional pre-construction surveying duties including deeds of appointment and procurement. Desirable Experience: 2 years+ of experience with a main contractor or subcontractor as a trainee or assistant estimator, pre-construction surveyor, or cost planner. Use of Conquest software would be advantageous but not essential. Excel knowledge is desirable. Previous Roles: Trainee Estimator OR Assistant Estimator OR Pre-Construction Surveyor OR Intermediate Estimator OR Cost Planner.
