School Governor

We are looking for a new school governor! We are proud to be a friendly, forward-thinking junior school in the New Parks area of Leicester. We have a fantastic reputation for supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs, while also providing an excellent academic education. Our school is a really diverse place, with children from many different cultures and backgrounds. Our children are resilient, funny and confident, and they certainly keep us on our toes – no two days are ever the same! We have a kind, welcoming and dedicated staff team, and we think it is a lovely place to work and learn. We are now looking for a new governor to join our governing body. You don't need to have previous experience of being a governor or to be an expert in education. We are looking for someone who is interested in our school, wants to get involved and is willing to learn. Governors play an important part in helping the school to move forward. As a governing body, we work with the headteacher and senior leaders to support and challenge the school, look at how well things are going and help shape our plans for the future. Governors also have a role in areas such as finance, staffing and the curriculum. The governing body meets around six times a year, and governors are encouraged to visit school during the school day at least once each term. These visits are a great opportunity to see the school in action, meet staff and children and get a better understanding of what we do. Being a governor can be a really rewarding experience. It is a great opportunity to develop new skills, learn more about education and gain experience in areas such as finance, HR and strategic planning. Most importantly, it gives you the chance to make a positive difference to the lives of children in our local community. We fully fund governor training, so you will have plenty of support and opportunities to develop your knowledge and confidence in the role. Come and meet us!
