Nanny / Carer – SEND Experience (or Willingness to Train) Richmond, TW9 A warm, welcoming family in Richmond (TW9) is looking for a reliable, patient nanny/carer for their daughter, who attends school locally. She's a happy, affectionate 10-year-old with a great sense of humour, autistic and ADHD, non-speaking but a brilliant communicator in her own way. She's active and always on the go, looking for the next thing to do — so we need someone with the energy to keep up! We're looking for someone with a good understanding of both autism and ADHD, who's patient, observant, and keen to get to know her communication style. She also has an older brother (14), and the role includes some general support for both children within a busy family home. This is a role for someone looking for a long-term relationship, not just a job — the chance to build real trust with a child over time and see her grow in confidence and independence under your care. Key Responsibilities: School pick-up each afternoon and safe, reassuring transport home Preparing afternoon meals and snacks, accounting for dietary and sensory needs One-to-one support with emotional regulation, communication, and daily routines Supporting homework and educational activities Transport to and support at weekly activities — swimming, speech & language therapy, and OT Planning engaging indoor/outdoor activities suited to her interests and sensory needs Keeping bedroom and play areas tidy, plus some child-related laundry Maintaining a structured, predictable routine that helps her feel safe and secure About the role: Previous experience with autistic and/or ADHD children, or similar additional needs, preferred — but a real passion to learn and develop in this field is equally welcome, with full training given SEND school experience (as a Teacher or TA) also very welcome Qualification in childcare, health, or social care an advantage Experience with PECS, Makaton, or other AAC (alternative and augmentative communication) methods an advantage Confident, experienced driver essential (comfortable driving to school, appointments, and activities) — a family car is provided during working hours Clear, fluent spoken and written English essential Applicants must live within a short commute of Richmond, TW9 Days/Hours Monday to Friday Term time: approx. 1.30pm–7.30pm School holidays: approx. 10.30am–7.30pm 35–40 hours per week (to be agreed), including 2 Saturdays per month (Sat is negotiable) Occasional evening babysitting by arrangement Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or happy to obtain one First Aid certified, or happy to undertake training Salary: Negotiable for the right candidate To start: ASAP Travel: Each year the family relocates to Croatia (mid-July to early September), and the successful candidate is invited to join them, continuing to support their daughter while enjoying a summer on the Croatian coast.
