We are recruiting Caretakers to support a range of Council-managed buildings across Wolverhampton. This is a varied and hands-on role where you will be responsible for maintaining safe, clean, secure, and welcoming environments for staff, visitors, and service users. No two days are the same, and you'll play a vital role in ensuring Council buildings and grounds are well maintained and operational. Key Responsibilities Security & Key Holding Act as a key holder for Council premises. Open and secure buildings, gates, and site access points. Set and deactivate alarm systems. Conduct routine security checks and report any incidents or breaches. Liaise with emergency services when required. Fire Safety & Compliance Carry out regular fire alarm and emergency lighting checks. Ensure fire exits and escape routes remain clear and compliant. Maintain accurate records within fire safety logbooks. Report defects and arrange corrective action when necessary. Building Maintenance & Repairs Undertake minor repairs and maintenance tasks including: Basic plumbing repairs Minor carpentry work Painting and decorating General building repairs Replace accessible light bulbs, tubes, and fittings.
