ESTIMATOR REFURBISHMENT & COMMERCIAL FIT-OUT Location: Basildon, Essex Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum Sector: Refurbishment, Commercial Fit-Out and Internal Finishes A well-established refurbishment and commercial fit-out contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its team at its Basildon head office. The company delivers commercial refurbishment, maintenance and fit-out projects across London and the Southeast, typically valued up to £500,000. Its projects span commercial, education and public-sector environments, including work within live and occupied buildings. THE ROLE You will take responsibility for pricing and preparing competitive tenders for refurbishment and fit-out projects, working closely with clients, subcontractors, Project Managers and Contracts Managers. Key responsibilities include: • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents • Completing accurate measurements and take-offs • Pricing labour, materials and subcontract packages • Issuing and managing subcontractor enquiries • Analysing quotations and identifying commercial risks • Preparing tender submissions, clarifications and cost breakdowns • Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings • Liaising with clients and the operational team throughout pre-construction • Supporting tender handovers following successful bids REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate will have previous estimating experience gained within refurbishment, commercial fit-out, internal specialist subcontracting. You should also have: • Experience across a mixture of internal packages, including dry lining, partitions, flooring and decorating • A strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and trade interfaces • The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and scopes of work • Good measurement, pricing and numerical skills • Strong knowledge of Excel and other standard Microsoft Office programs • Confident communication and subcontractor negotiation skills •
