SALARY: MPS / UPR + SEN 1 APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: Midnight 2oth September 2026 INTERVIEW DATE: W/C: 5th October 2026 DESIRED STARTING DATE: ASAP Background information: The Leicester Partnership School is Leicester City Council’s Secondary Pupil Referral Service. We provide educational provision for young people who have a range of SEN and SEMH needs and some challenging behaviours, who are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream education or who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. Experience of working in a: • PRU or alternative provision setting • Special school • Mainstream school with significant SEN/SEMH provision • Similar specialist educational environment would be advantageous. You will need to hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification and have strong subject knowledge in English. Experience of teaching GCSE English Language and/or Literature would be desirable. You will: • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons. • Teach English across the relevant Key Stages and examination courses. • Develop pupils' reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. • Inspire pupils through engaging texts, literature and real-world learning. • Adapt and differentiate teaching to meet a wide range of SEN, SEMH and individual learning needs. • Support pupils to develop their vocabulary, literacy and communication skills. • Build pupils' confidence in expressing their ideas and opinions. • Set high expectations for learning, behaviour and achievement. • Build positive relationships with pupils who may initially be reluctant to engage or trust adults. • Use calm, consistent and effective behaviour-management strategies. • Support pupils who may become dysregulated or display challenging behaviour. • Assess, track and celebrate pupil progress. • Identify and address gaps in literacy and prior learning. • Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and colleagues to provide a consistent approach. • Contribute to the wider life of the school and pupils' personal development. • Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and a belief in their own abilities. You will need to be creative and adaptable, finding ways to engage pupils who may have previously disengaged from education and helping them recognise the importance of English in their everyday lives and future aspirations.
