Civil Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support the protection of communities, infrastructure, and the environment from flooding. You will provide technical expertise and health and safety guidance to field teams, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include developing practical repair solutions, designing small to medium improvement projects, and maintaining flood defence assets. You will coordinate work, contribute to data and financial management, and support minor construction projects while working closely with contractors, stakeholders, and local communities. Strong collaboration is essential, as you will build relationships across teams and partners to deliver a place-focused flood risk service in South East Wales. You may also support emergency flood response, including standby duties and incident management. This role suits someone motivated, collaborative, and passionate about engineering and environmental protection. Driving is essential to this role as it requires frequent travel, often to remote locations not served by public transport sometimes outside of normal working hours and possibly during periods of bad weather. You must hold a full and current UK driving license. As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to an NRW office within the place base / location above and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment.
