Housing Solutions Officer Local Authority | Nottinghamshire £28 per hour | 2-3 months | 37 hours Are you an experienced housing professional looking for your next opportunity within local government? We are currently working with a local authority in Nottinghamshire to recruit an experienced Housing Solutions Officer to join their Housing Solutions team. This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable and motivated housing professional to make a genuine difference to residents across the area. The Role As a Housing Solutions Officer, you will provide comprehensive housing advice and assistance to households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. You will manage a varied caseload of customers with a range of housing needs, working proactively to prevent homelessness, identify suitable accommodation and deliver effective housing solutions. Working within the council's statutory homelessness duties, you will assess individual circumstances, develop appropriate housing plans and ensure customers receive high-quality, person-centred advice and support. Key Responsibilities Assess homelessness applications and housing needs in accordance with relevant legislation and council policies. Provide clear, accurate and comprehensive housing advice to customers. Work proactively to prevent homelessness and identify sustainable housing solutions. Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring cases are progressed within statutory and service timescales. Make appropriate decisions in relation to homelessness duties and housing options. Liaise with landlords, letting agents, housing associations and other accommodation providers to secure suitable housing. Work collaboratively with internal council teams and external agencies to support vulnerable households. Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records and ensure all decisions are appropriately documented. Identify safeguarding concerns and make appropriate referrals where necessary. Support customers to access suitable accommodation and relevant support services. Keep up to date with changes to housing legislation, guidance and best practice. About You We are looking for someone with strong experience within homelessness, housing options or a related local authority housing service . You will ideally have: Previous experience working within a Housing Solutions, Housing Options or Homelessness service. A sound understanding of homelessness legislation and statutory housing duties. Experience assessing housing needs and managing a complex caseload. Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively with vulnerable customers and challenging situations. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Excellent written skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate casework records and decisions. A customer-focused approach and commitment to delivering positive outcomes. The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team. Why Apply?
