What you will do

• Undertake emergency Mental Health Act assessments and exercise your statutory AMHP duties with precision and care, adhering to relevant legislation and local procedures.
• Assess and manage risk effectively, making informed decisions regarding detention, admission, community alternatives, and safeguarding interventions.
• Coordinate out of hours Mental Health Act activity, working closely with medical practitioners, police, ambulance services, Approved Clinicians, and mental health providers.
• Ensure accurate recording and documentation, completing statutory reports, applications, and legal paperwork with attention to detail.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to partner agencies on mental health legislation, safeguarding, and crisis management, solidifying your role as a key resource.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Possess a degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or Psychology, and have an approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification.
• Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to mental health practice is essential.

Registration and Compliance

• Maintain current registration with Social Work England.

Experience

• Have significant post-qualification experience within adult mental health services, along with substantial experience undertaking AMHP duties and Mental Health Act assessments.
