Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Thringstone Primary School 30 hours per week | Term Time | Fixed Temp Hours: 8:50am โ€“ 3:20pm, Monday to Friday Start date: As soon as possible Contract: Fixed term until the end of the Summer Term 2027, with the potential to become permanent Thringstone Primary School is seeking a caring, committed and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive staff team. About the Role This is a varied and rewarding role supporting teaching and learning across the school. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to support children within the classroom, including providing 1:1 and small-group support where required. A significant part of the role will involve supporting children with additional and SEND needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and participate successfully in school life. Deployment will be based on the needs of the school and may change over time, so we are looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and keen to develop their skills. The appointment will initially be on a fixed-term contract until the end of the Summer Term 2027, with the potential for the position to become permanent. We are looking for someone who: Has experience working with primary-aged children, although this is desirable rather than essential. Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent qualifications. Is confident supporting children with additional needs. Has high expectations for all children. Is calm, patient and consistent. Builds positive relationships with children. Is flexible and responsive to individual needs. Communicates effectively with staff, children and families. Works positively as part of a team while also showing initiative. Is reliable, organised and committed to supporting learning. Is keen to learn, develop professionally and take advantage of training opportunities. Key Responsibilities Provide classroom, 1:1 and small-group support as required. Support children with additional and SEND needs. Support the class teacher in delivering effective teaching and learning. Help children access the curriculum and develop independence. Promote positive behaviour, engagement and participation. Prepare and adapt resources to meet children's needs. Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
