Digital Technology Be a part of an exciting data transformation journey within GE Aerospace. On our Digital Technology team, you’ll have a hand in designing, deploying, and maintaining technologies and systems to address the ever-changing needs of our customers and business. Roles and Responsibilities In the 12-month placement in Digital Technology (DT) you’ll gain hands-on experience in IT operations, project management, data analytics, and software development. You’ll work on exciting projects to improve business processes, support IT systems, and drive digital transformation. We have different types of roles in this area; here is a brief snapshot into each: Digital Technology (Cardiff) - you will play a key part in developing a Digital Toolset to drive productivity within the business functions. You will lead various projects utilising applications from the GE Toolset and new Analytics Tools. You will partner with these business functions to understand requirements and translate these into Operational Tools. Digital Technology (Caledonian) - Development of prototype local applications for SQDIP improvements. DT Technology and Operations Team (Cheltenham) - providing support for iPhone and iPad devices, including setup, upgrades, compliance, and issue resolution. You will manage requests for new network port installations, remote access, and GUEST WiFi changes, while assisting users with supply chain applications. Responsibilities also include managing a Raspberry Pi-based signage solution, covering procurement, build, and configuration of devices. Project activities may involve supporting application deployments and upgrades, as well as managing small-scale equipment deployments and installations. Digital Technology ( Dowty) - improving how the business uses data and digital technologies to drive better decisions and performance. You will help enhance data maturity by improving data quality, structure, standardization, governance, and accessibility, and work with business and digital teams to understand reporting needs and develop dashboards and visualizations for key metrics. The position involves gathering, cleaning, validating, and analyzing data to support operational and strategic decisions, while identifying opportunities where AI can create business value and building clear business cases for adoption. You will research digital and AI trends and best practices, help evaluate AI use cases for impact, feasibility, risks, and data readiness, and lead or coordinate a digital technology project from scope definition through milestone tracking and stakeholder communication. In addition, you will support cross-functional collaboration to ensure solutions align with user needs, prepare presentations and updates for reviews, and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, visibility, and decision-making. Cyber Security (Cheltenham) - you will work across five key cyber security areas: Intelligence, Enterprise Vulnerability Management, Insider Threat, External Threat, and Digital Forensics. The student will spend two months in each area, gaining an understanding of daily operations by working with key staff and delivering a small project to showcase what they have learned. In the final two months, the student can choose one of these areas to focus on. Throughout the placement, they will receive training and hands-on experience with cyber tools used by the UK Cyber Team, explore topics aligned to their course such as malware analysis and networking, and have opportunities to participate in Cyber Capture the Flag events during the year. Engineering Leadership (Cheletenham) - data and digital - focused role embedded in engineering, closely linked to supply chain and factory operations. Reporting to the Engineering Executive Leader, you will support major initiatives such as Product Cost Hoshin Kanri, Defect PSR, and zero-defect improvement activities by using data analytics, digital tools, and AI/advanced analytics to analyse product cost and defect data, build dashboards and digital solutions, and drive lean, data-driven process and quality improvements.
