Parenting Support Officer

We are currently looking for a Parenting Support Officer to join our busy team in Coedcae—bring your skills, care and drive, and help families affected by domestic abuse move towards safer, stronger futures. Hours of Work: full time In this Parenting Support Officer role, you will provide structured, trauma-informed, strengths-based support to parents and carers who have experienced domestic abuse (including CAPVA). You will help families understand how abuse and harmful behaviours can impact parenting, relationships and children’s wellbeing, and you’ll work alongside them to build safer, more positive parenting strategies, strengthen protective factors, and support recovery and resilience. You will also develop and deliver parenting interventions, which may include group programmes alongside individual support. Where appropriate—following robust risk assessment and safeguarding decision-making—you may contribute to work with individuals who have used harmful or abusive behaviours, supporting accountability, increasing understanding of impact on children and family members, and encouraging positive behaviour change alongside our experienced Intervention Team. You may also contribute to carefully planned work to strengthen or rebuild parent-child relationships when assessed as safe and in the child’s best interests. Above all, safety and wellbeing for children and adult victims remain central throughout. Parenting Support Officer Requirements: Experience of supporting people affected by complex or challenging circumstances. Experience of developing and maintaining professional relationships with other agencies. Experience of providing one-to-one support or structured interventions. Knowledge of child protection and adult safeguarding procedures, with an understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality and appropriate information sharing. Ability to build positive, trusting and professional relationships, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to maintain accurate, confidential records.
