Roles and Responsibilities In the 12-month Human Resources (HR) Placement, you'll gain invaluable skills and experience in covering all aspects of HR including recruitment, employee relations and engagement. You could be working alongside our HR teams, supporting with performance reviews, absence management, disciplinary and grievance meetings, helping to implement HR policies and procedures and working on various simplification projects. We have the following opportunities: Caledonian - This role strengthens delivery across core HR activities by supporting the talent agenda, employee engagement, employee relations, performance reviews, absence management, and the coordination of disciplinary and grievance processes. It involves owning key operational and administrative tasks so the HR Manager and wider HR team can focus on strategic, value-added priorities. The role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, developing practical Lean knowledge and applying these to improve team effectiveness and ways of working, while participating in projects that explore the use of AI tools to streamline routine activities, enhance efficiency, and simplify HR processes. Cheltenham - support a range of HR initiatives across Learning and Development, Recruitment, Employee Lifecycle, Employee Relations, and Total Rewards. Your key tasks will include conducting inductions for new hires, supporting exit interviews, running absence reports and following up on return-to-work and absence discussions, and producing monthly attrition data reports for the HR team. You will also take notes at disciplinary and grievance meetings, update and maintain time and attendance systems, contribute to HR projects and gain knowledge of HR policies and processes, maintain and update the HR intranet, and act as a point of contact for general HR queries. Dowty - you will support a wide range of HR initiatives across learning and development, recruitment, the employee lifecycle, employee relations and total rewards. Day to day, you will handle employee questions, collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team on job postings and onboarding, and work with People Operations to keep employee data accurate through regular quality checks. You will partner with People Leaders to coordinate site-wide initiatives, support the engagement team, initiate employee lifecycle events, assist with off-boarding, contribute to the preparation of site practices and procedures, and help deliver training across the employee population. You will be guided by structured goals and objectives and will have responsibility to deliver on inspiring projects supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will guide you throughout the year to ensure you make the best of your GE Aerospace experience. Your People Leader will offer coaching and mentoring, and you will be provided with the opportunity to connect with other placement students across the UK. This opportunity is offered in our Caledonian (Prestwick, Scotland), Cheltenham, and Gloucester (Dowty, a GE Aerospace company) sites , during the process we will ask you to share your location and role preferences. GE Aerospace Caledonian is a purpose-built aircraft engine overhaul facility, adjacent to Glasgow Prestwick International Airport. The Caledonian site was officially opened in 1980 and has since grown into a centre of excellence for Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) of CF6 & GEnx engine types. After each overhaul, the engines undergo intensive performance testing on site in our bespoke test cell, before returning to our global customer base ready for service.
