Purchasing Executive Job Type: Full-time, Onsite Location: Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire Salary: £40k - £45k per annum Join our well-established Mechanical & Electrical contractor team, delivering high-quality building services solutions across commercial, industrial, and residential projects. We are seeking a Purchasing Assistant to support our procurement and project teams, ensuring the efficient sourcing and delivery of mechanical and electrical components for ongoing projects. Day-to-day of the role: Assist in sourcing mechanical and electrical materials, plant, and equipment. Obtain and compare supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing. Raise and process purchase orders in line with company procedures. Liaise with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability, and delivery schedules. Track orders and resolve any supply issues or discrepancies. Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases. Support negotiation of pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve the best possible outcomes. Work closely with project managers and site teams to meet project deadlines. Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control to ensure project continuity. Required Skills & Qualifications: Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role, preferably within the M&E, construction, or engineering sectors. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical materials is desirable but not essential. Strong organisational and administrative skills. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively. Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented and highly organised.
