Planner

MAIN PURPOSE: Planner To be responsible for the processing of a varied caseload of planning applications (including the more complex householders, prior approval, lawful development certificates, change of use, pre application advice and minor developments) and related appeals at both delegated and committee level. To respond promptly to enquiries from developers, Councillors, and the public on a range of development management matters to ensure an efficient and reliable service is provided taking account of relevant legislation, policies, and the procedures of the Council. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Planner (to be read in conjunction with competencies) Planner Work collaboratively as part of the Council's wider planning service to process a broad range of planning application proposals and provide high-quality pre-application advice, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal performance targets Communicate effectively with Members of the Public, Councillors, stakeholders and agents Attend Planning Committee meetings and present your cases with support from a more senior member of staff ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken Lead on smaller planning appeals for your cases and others, including those dealt with via fast-track or written representations Maintain high standards of customer service and meet performance targets, with full regard to the development plan, planning policies, and the Council's corporate priorities Liaise with statutory and non-statutory consultees to support applications, enforcement cases and appeal determinations Interpret and apply planning legislation and associated frameworks as relevant Work within a target-driven environment, meeting deadlines and contributing to divisional goals Attend occasional meetings outside normal office hours as required.
