Groundworker

Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Groundworker to join a leading organisation within the social housing sector, delivering repairs, maintenance and improvement works across occupied and void residential properties throughout the Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Groundworker looking for long-term work, with the successful candidate initially joining on a temporary basis with the opportunity to secure a permanent position following a successful period. The position involves a wide range of groundwork, drainage, paving and maintenance-related duties. Key Responsibilities Carrying out groundwork repairs and maintenance works within social housing properties Paving works including slabs and block paving Concreting of paths, patios, steps and hard standings Excavation and backfilling works in line with current regulations Repairs and replacement of clay and UPVC drainage systems Installation and repair of fencing, including concrete and timber posts, panels and close-board fencing Brickwork, pointing and associated external repairs Completing pre-start risk assessments and working in accordance with health and safety procedures Using handheld technology to update job information and complete required documentation Ensuring properties are left safe, secure and in good condition following completion of works Requirements To be considered, you will ideally have (but not essential) NVQ Level 2 in Groundworks or a relevant construction trade qualification. Strong experience in paving, concreting, drainage and excavation works. Experience installing fencing and carrying out external maintenance repairs. Good understanding of site safety standards and excavation procedures. Ability to read and work from construction drawings. Full UK Manual Driving Licence. Desirable: Asbestos Awareness Certificate Abrasive Wheels Training CAT & Genny qualification Plant operator
