Neurological Alliance of ScotlandThe Neurological Alliance of Scotland is the umbrella body for neurological conditions charities in Scotland with around 60 charities from across Scotland and the UK. We also have several industry members. In partnership with our members, we inform policy, raise awareness and support improvements in services. Our vision is that everyone affected by neurological conditions in Scotland - including carers and those who support them - can access high-quality, timely, and holistic care and support at every stage of their life, regardless of where in Scotland they live.The Alliance is overseen by trustees with day-to-day operations managed by a Programme Director. We are recruiting for a freelance Membership & Engagement Officer to support our work.The RoleThis is an exciting and challenging role to support our charity membership and lead on our social media and communications activities.The person will be proactive, warm-natured, highly motivated with excellent communication and project management skills and an attention to detail for a varied workload. This role will involve being a central point of contact for our charity members, dealing with outreach and onboarding new members, billing, queries and maintaining the database of contacts. They will also be responsible for certain communications activities including our monthly newsletter and maintaining our Facebook and BlueSky accounts as well as drafting briefings and supporting our campaigns.Key Responsibilities:MembershipBe a central point of contact for our charity membersResearch and reach out to potential new charity membersWelcome new members through the newsletter and social media, and welcome packsDraft email updates to members as requiredAdminister our annual membership subscriptions and track paymentsMaintain a list of current members, including contact information and various mailing listsCommunicationsDraft the monthly newsletterDraft and schedule posts for our Facebook and Bluesky accountsDeal with any newsletter related emails and support members to share news and reports with usCreate infographics for use on our social media, website and newsletterSocial media analyticsDraft researchDraft briefings for both internal and external useWebsiteEnsure all members have their logo on our website•Check all links on the NAoS website are live and remove any that are defunctUpload reports, newsletters and minutes to the websiteOccasional website copy editingTrack engagement on our websiteEventsAssist with preparing for all events including the AGM, Members’ Meetings and other events as requiredTake minutes at all Trustee Meetings, Members’ Meetings, Policy Group meetings and the AGMOccasionally attend external events as a NAoS repCampaigningBe a central part of any campaigning we do, supporting and liaising with working groupsOperational activitySupport policy and campaigning as directed by Programme DirectorSupport the running of the policy subgroups as requiredReviewing workPerson specificationEssential:Self-motivated, organised and flexible – able to manage multiple projects and priorities and able to work independentlyExcellent communication, writing, design and interpersonal skillsConfident dealing with a wide range of stakeholders and able to represent NAoS at the occasional external meetingDesirable:Knowledge of the health landscape in ScotlandExperience liaising with multiple stakeholder groups
