Job Description

Maintenance Assistant 30,800 (including on-call allowance) Harrogate An excellent opportunity to join a friendly and supportive maintenance team within a well-established educational environment. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with building maintenance, facilities and caretaking experience who enjoys a varied workload and takes pride in maintaining safe, secure and well-presented premises. The Role As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for: Opening and securing buildings each day Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and general building upkeep Performing routine security checks, fire alarm testing and emergency lighting inspections Undertaking minor repairs, decorating and general maintenance works Assisting with plumbing, joinery and handyman tasks Installing and maintaining fixtures and fittings Clearing drains, gullies and guttering as required Setting up rooms, furniture and equipment for meetings and events Liaising with contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard Receiving, distributing and storing deliveries and stock Carrying out basic vehicle inspections, including oil and tyre checks Completing maintenance records and routine inspections Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures Hours of Work 35 hours per week Rotating shift pattern: 6:00am to 1:30pm 12:00pm to 7:30pm On-call rota of 1 week in 6 On-call allowance and overtime paid About You You will: Have previous experience within building maintenance, facilities, caretaking or a similar role Be capable of carrying out basic plumbing, joinery, decorating and repair work Have experience working to planned preventative maintenance schedules Be organised and able to manage a varied workload Have a professional and personable approach Possess basic IT skills and be confident completing maintenance reports Hold a full UK driving licence Be willing to undertake an
