Legal Audio Typist (Criminal Law)

Temporary to Permanent Opportunity | £14.00 per Hour | Office Based

Are you an experienced Audio Typist, Legal Administrator or Secretary looking for your next opportunity? We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected Criminal Law practice seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join their busy team.

This is an excellent temporary-to-permanent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced professional environment and has strong audio typing and administrative skills.

About the Role

Working within a busy Criminal Law department, you will provide essential administrative and secretarial support, ensuring legal documentation is prepared accurately and efficiently. This role involves working with sensitive and confidential information relating to criminal cases, so professionalism and discretion are essential.

Working Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 9:00am - 5:00pm


• Friday: 9:00am - 4:30pm

Key Responsibilities

• Audio typing and transcribing legal documents using digital dictation software, a headset and foot pedal.


• Producing accurate correspondence, reports and case documentation.


• Liaising with police officers, courts and external agencies to obtain and update case information.


• Following established procedures when gathering information over the telephone.


• Maintaining and updating client records and case management systems.


• Providing administrative support to fee earners and the wider legal team.


• Managing confidential information in accordance with legal and data protection requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in audio typing, digital dictation, legal administration or legal secretarial work.


• Fast and accurate typing skills.


• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.


• Excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner.


• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.


• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.


• Experience within a legal environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
