Job Description

Your new company Hays are recruiting on behalf of a well-established public sector organisation based in Belfast who are seeing a Finance Officer to join its finance team. Your new role As Finance Officer, you will support the day-to-day operation of a busy finance function, ensuring the efficient processing of financial transactions and maintaining accurate financial records. Key responsibilities will include: Managing the finance inbox and responding to finance-related queries. Reviewing and validating financial documentation prior to processing. Processing supplier invoices and supporting regular payment runs. Monitoring payment deadlines and assisting with financial performance reporting. Preparing monthly bank and credit card reconciliations. Maintaining accurate financial records and contract-related information. Supporting internal and external audit requirements. Assisting with statutory and ad hoc financial returns. Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve queries. Providing general administrative support to the wider finance team. What you'll need to succeed Previous experience processing purchase or supplier invoices within a finance environment. Experience completing bank reconciliations accurately and to deadlines. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail. The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a busy team environment. Experience using finance systems or accounting software. Experience with Sage 200 would be advantageous.
