School Caretaker 22.5 hours per week, (2pm - 6.30pm Monday - Friday) term time only, plus 4 weeks Required: 19th October 2026 Salary: L1 - £26,522 FTE The Governors and Head Teacher of Holy Rood Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic School Caretaker to join our friendly team and help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our children, staff and visitors. This is a rewarding role for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a school community, and understands the importance of providing a well-maintained learning environment for children aged 4–11. Key responsibilities include: • Securing and monitoring the school site as required • Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and decorating tasks within the school • Ensuring the school premises, grounds and outdoor areas are clean, safe and well presented • Undertaking regular health and safety checks and reporting any defects or concerns • Assisting with the movement and setting up of furniture and equipment for school activities and events • Liaising with contractors and supporting site-related projects when required • Supporting the school in maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations Please refer to the attached Job Description for the full scope of duties and responsibilities associated with this role. We are looking for someone who: • Has experience of caretaking, site management, maintenance or a similar role • Has practical DIY and maintenance skills • Has knowledge of health and safety requirements within a workplace environment • Is reliable, organised and able to work independently using their own initiative • Can prioritise tasks effectively and respond to day-to-day maintenance issues • Has good communication skills and can work positively as part of a team • Is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for children and staff Holy Rood Catholic Primary School is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
