Job Description
Academics are an education recruitment agency working with a primary school in Barry to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with high tariff additional learning needs (ALN). This position starts in April 2026 and will run on a temporary basis, with potential for long-term continuation depending on funding and pupil progress. The Role: Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with complex needs , which may include learning difficulties, communication challenges, and behaviour regulation Working closely with the class teacher , ALNCo , and external specialists to implement an individualised learning and behaviour support plan Supporting the child's academic progress , emotional wellbeing , and social integration Assisting with transitions throughout the school day, including break and lunchtime if required Requirements: A minimum of 6 months' experience supporting children with ALN/complex needs , ideally in a 1:1 role A valid Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willingness to apply through Academics) Relevant qualifications or training in SEN, ALN, or behaviour support (desirable) Strong communication skills, resilience, and a calm, empathetic approach This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to have a significant impact on a young learner's development and school experience. Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
