School Caretaker **Humberstone Junior and Infant Academies** **Working pattern:** Predominantly 10.00am–6.00pm, with flexibility required between 7.00am and 6.00pm **Salary:** Leicester City Grade 4 point 7 - £26,403 per annum **Contract:** Permanent, full-time, all year-round Humberstone Junior and Infant Academies are seeking a practical, reliable and proactive Caretaker to help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will take pride in the appearance and condition of our school premises and will be confident undertaking a varied workload, including routine maintenance, health and safety checks, security duties and responding promptly to issues across the site. ## Important information about working hours The site team operates between **7.00am and 6.00pm**. The postholder will mainly work the **late shift of 10.00am–6.00pm**. However, flexibility is an essential requirement of the role. The successful candidate must be able to alter their working pattern when required, including covering early, late or split shifts during colleagues’ annual leave, absence or other operational requirements. Applicants should only apply if they can reliably meet this requirement. ## Main responsibilities The role will include: * opening and securing the school site when required; * carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs; * completing regular premises, security and health and safety checks; * identifying defects, hazards and areas requiring attention; * maintaining accurate records of inspections and completed work; * monitoring contractors and ensuring work is completed safely; * supporting fire, water, security and other statutory compliance checks; * assisting with the movement of furniture, equipment and deliveries; * maintaining the cleanliness, safety and presentation of internal and external areas; * responding appropriately to urgent premises-related issues; * supporting school events and lettings where required; and * working closely with the Site Manager and wider school team. ## Essential experience Applicants must be able to demonstrate at least one of the following: * previous experience of working in a school or other educational environment; * practical premises, caretaking or facilities-management experience; * a maintenance or building-services background; or * relevant health and safety experience. **Your application must clearly identify how your previous experience meets this requirement.
