Job Description
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about carriage driving and the role of a groom/backstepper, providing experience in a less conventional but fascinating area of the equestrian industry.The business has a very busy winter training season, followed by summer competitions, so this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to become more involved in the competition side of the industry and progress with the horses as they move up the levels.The employer can teach the successful candidate the more specialist horse-related aspects of the role, but they must already have some experience of grooming horses and must be comfortable around large competition horses.The role will include:Mucking out / keeping yard area tidyFeeding / filling haynets and water bucketsTurning in and outPicking out feet / rugging upGrooming / Tacking upTack CleaningBathing / Show PrepLunging / long reiningHolding for farrier / vet / dentistPossibility of grooming at showsHours16 hours a week depending on availability.
