Payroll Assistant Required Salary – 26,000 – 28,000 Monday to Friday – 08:00 – 17:00 Experience: No prior payroll experience required. Full training will be provided. About the Role We are looking for a motivated and detail–oriented Payroll Assistant to join our team. Key Responsibilities Collect, review and process weekly payroll data from multiple sites, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. Validate timesheets, attendance records, overtime and other payroll–related information. Respond to employee queries regarding pay, tax, deductions and payroll discrepancies. Assist with statutory payroll requirements, including PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pension contributions. Support the administration of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), including subcontractor payments and deductions. Maintain accurate employee payroll records and update payroll systems as required. Process new starters, leavers and changes to employee details. Assist with payroll reconciliations and payroll reporting. Ensure payroll activities comply with company policies and relevant legislation. Maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee and payroll information. Liaise with Operations and HR to resolve payroll–related queries and ensure accurate payroll data is received. Support month–end and year–end payroll processes. About You The ideal candidate will have: Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, managers and colleagues. Good numerical and administrative skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. The ability to quickly learn new systems and processes. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. A professional approach to handling confidential information. An interest in learning payroll processes, including PAYE and CIS. A positive, reliable and proactive attitude. The ability to work independently as well as part of a small, supportive team.
