Salary:Grade 4, £27,525 - £29,144 per annum, pro rata (Approximately £19,077 - £20,200 per annum (0.69309 FTE) About us and the role Avanti Fields School is seeking a skilled and committed Design and Technology Technician to play an important role in supporting high-quality practical teaching across our Design Technology and Food Technology departments. Working closely with teaching staff, you will prepare practical resources, maintain specialist equipment and workshops, and provide technical support to ensure lessons are safe, well organised and purposeful. You will have the opportunity to use your practical and technical expertise across a varied role, supporting everything from day-to-day practical lessons and equipment maintenance to examinations, projects and the wider development of the department. Your organisation, attention to detail and commitment to high standards will help ensure that teachers have the resources and support they need to deliver successful practical lessons. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, reliable and confident working with specialist equipment, and who is motivated by the opportunity to contribute directly to pupils’ learning, skills and achievement. Prepare materials, equipment, tools and practical resources for Design Technology and Food Technology lessons, including creating jigs, formers and specialist set-ups as required. Provide practical support, advice and demonstrations to pupils and staff, helping them use equipment and resources safely and effectively. Maintain, repair and organise tools, machinery and equipment, manage stock levels and orders, and liaise with suppliers and manufacturers where required. Maintain high standards of health, safety, cleanliness and organisation across workshops, classrooms and preparation areas, including developing and maintaining appropriate risk assessments and safe storage arrangements. Support the wider Technology department with practical examinations, displays, ICT equipment and GCSE practical work, including additional professional duties during particularly busy periods.
